I had planned to have the Female Eclectus as the Bird of the Month back in February, but illness kept me from doing a collection that month - so here they are for June! With their vibrant colors, I thought they were perfect for my "Red, White & Blue" theme this month! Kaleena, my own female Solomon Island Eclectus was happy to be my "live model" for this collection! :)

On auction are a bracelet charm, charm choker, pendant, and beaded necklace/earring set. There is also a Vosmaeri charm, and beaded Vos necklace/earring set (not shown here). All of the pieces are on auction for the next 5 days on eBay, ending on Sunday!

My "Christmas Birds" Killian and Kaleena and I send our best wishes for a very Happy Holiday season to you and your flocks!

On the topic of holidays and gift giving, I'd like to tell you about Parrot Toy Angels, an all-volunteer organization committed to providing toys, food and other avian supplies to companion birds in difficult situations. Each year they have fundraising auctions on eBay, and it's a great chance to get some fantastic gifts (for your human and bird friends) and help parrots at the same time!

I donated one of my "scrap clay" bird necklaces which you can view here: Cockatoo Necklace. This year's auctions run until December 11th, and to view all items that are up for sale, please go to the Parrot Toy Angels eBay store: http://stores.ebay.com/parrottoyangels

These new creations were made using rubber stamps impressed in black clay, then highlighted with metallic pigment powders for color, and embellished with beads. They have a unique and eye catching look that is hard to capture in photos!

I've made these as magnets, which can be easily altered to also use as ornaments if you prefer. Some of the larger ones also look fantastic in my magnetic display frames as well, as wall or table art.

The birds represented resemble a Blue and Gold Macaw, Male Eclectus, Blue Headed Pionus, White Bellied Caique, Black Headed Caique, a sculpted Lovebird on a cage, and a Senegal. Tthese pieces are on eBay until Thursday. (Any unsold pieces will then be listed in my Joy Magnet Art Etsy Shop.)

I recently had the opportunity to finally visit the Iowa Parrot Rescue! It was a great experience, and I took some photos to share with you! This amazing rescue has placed over 600 birds, which is particularly impressive considering that most come to the rescue with behavioral issues and other problems.

Go to my Facebook Photo Album to view more photos from my visit. To read more about the rescue and learn more about how you may be able to help, please visit their website at: http://www.iowaparrotrescue.org
