Sun Conures always make me think of summer, so I have chosen them as the Bird of the Month for August!

The vibrant conures on auction for the next week include the following: bracelet charm, cell phone charm, choker necklace, choker necklace with "Follow Your Heart" charm, pendant without cord, pendant on black cord, pin or magnet, glass beaded bracelet, and a glass beaded necklace/earring set!

For those of you patiently waiting for a chance to place a custom order, I have good news!

I am making great progress working through the current line up of orders, and because several large orders fell through, things are going faster than anticipated!

I am still planning to put the order form for custom orders up around January 2011, but depending on how long the remaining orders and website updates take, it could be sooner! Stay tuned for more news in the next few months.

The Summer Sale in my eBay Store ends on the 31st, so be sure to stop by take a look at the remaining inventory before then!

The unpacking, sorting and settling back in after June's flood is continuing to take time, but progress is being made, and I am so thankful for that! I've also had a lot of fun tackling some redecorating projects. The latest post-flood project consists of preparing for a big garage sale! Sorting through so much stuff is great motivation to clear out and re-organize!

I've being receiving so many custom order queries every day, so I thought I would give you all an update as to how my current line-up of work is going. At this point, I still have approximately 7 months more of custom order requests from last year yet to fill. I am working my way through and drawing from the stack of requests that have been waiting, and creating as many as I can each month.

Once all of the outstanding waiting requests are filled, I will be taking a bit of time off to do some website updates, and at that time will determine when I will be open for new custom orders in the future. Whenever I have openings again, and can accept additional custom orders, I will post the news through my newsletter, Facebook, and this blog!

I've put an assortment of new stuff on eBay for this week. Shown here is a complete African Grey "Flights of Fancy" ensemble, with necklace, earrings and matching beaded bracelet. I love the stunning glass beads and color scheme in amber, yellow and garnet.

Also on auction this week are a beaded Umbrella Cockatoo Bracelet & Earrings, a Turquoisine Grass Parakeet Charm, another "Poop Pin" (not shown) and some feather earrings.

I recently finished a custom order that was a fun challenge, something a bit different than I've done before. I had a really wonderful drawing of the customer's design to go from, so that helped a lot!

This baby cockatiel was sculpted from Super Sculpley, with a layer of Transclucent Liquid Sulpey over the eye for that "sealed up" look, and white Premo for the shell. I don't normally use paint on my pieces, but did a thin wash of highlights on the baby's body to show the itty bitty wrinkles and details.

Summer sure seems to be speeding by quickly! I haven't kept up with blogging as often as I had planned, but I hope there are still a few of you enjoying the blog anyways!

My mom has been laid up for over 2 months with a very painful hernaited disc, and will be having surgery in a few days. Because of this and other important things that popped up which have needed my attention, the remaining custom work has been a bit slow in being completed, however I'm just about done, whew! Once all orders are completed however, I will not be accepting additional custom orders for a while, so that I can "re-charge" a bit.

I realize there are many of you whom have been patiently waiting for a chance to place a custom order, and I'm sorry to have to ask you to wait a bit longer. My family and health have to come first and need my focus at the time, so I expect to put a hold on returning to custom orders for a few months. Non-custom art will continue to be made available through my eBay Store and Etsy shop.

I'm enjoying the Summer Olympics - wasn't the opening ceremony amazing? Wow! I'm going to be following the USA women's gymnastics in particular, especially Iowa girl Shawn Johnson!

Wow - it's been several weeks since I have posted in my blog, but I haven't disappeared, I promise! :)  Health issues continue to keep me working at a snail's pace these days unfortunately, but I'm coming along with the current line up of orders as best as I can!

Here is a photo of a custom 6-bird pin that I just finished. I rarely make pins with this many birds, but made half of them "partial bodied" in order to keep the size and weight down on it. More pictures of this piece can be seen in my Flickr album.

This trio of custom budgies are flying off to their home in Germany, but stayed for a moment to pose for a picture! :) This piece really took a long time to finish, I find parakeets to be one of the most challenging species to create in clay!  More pictures of this custom pin can be viewed on Flickr.

The past 6 weeks or so have been really rough. I've dealt with chronic illness since I was a child, but there are times where it is still really hard to cope. Lately, the dysautonomia related to MVPS has been downright horrid. The dizziness, brain fuzz, and swelling in my hands have made it hard to do much sculpting, so I haven't had many updates to post here unfortunately. When flare ups keep me from working for weeks on end, it can be frustrating - not only for my customers waiting for their custom orders, but also for me, since things just don't seem right if I don't have my hands clay every day! :) Thankfully the last few days were a tad bit better and I was really thrilled to be able to get this trio of macaws done!

I have just finished this custom ordered chunky bracelet with glass beads, which features 3 Goffin's cockatoos and 3 Congo African Greys, and thought you all might enjoy seeing it as well. I just love making these bracelets, they are such fun to create and each one is so unique! More photos of this set can be seen in my Flickr Album.
