For those of you patiently waiting for a chance to place a custom order, I have good news!

I am making great progress working through the current line up of orders, and because several large orders fell through, things are going faster than anticipated!

I am still planning to put the order form for custom orders up around January 2011, but depending on how long the remaining orders and website updates take, it could be sooner! Stay tuned for more news in the next few months.

I've been experimenting with using silver leafing, as well as ink, on clay. It's been great fun, and I am particularly excited about the look of this beautiful Eclectus pendant that almost has the look of glass!    Shown at right are some other new creations, all with starting bids UNDER $10!   Included are three unique poodles (twp pins and one magnet), a pair of beautiful multi-color leaf earrings, an older Citron Crested Pendant from my own collection, and some new "Bird Poop" pins! Well friends, I have so very much to be thankful for and am feeling truly grateful! On Friday night, my bedroom, bathroom, studio and living area were flooded due to a sump pump not running. But there is a lot of fantastic news!

#1 My family, furry and feathered friends and I are safe.
#2 The majority of my material possessions were saved, and are boxed up and sitting somewhere dry
#3 I have been blessed by the kindness of so many family, friends and even strangers through all that has taken place, and am left in a state of absolute awe and appreciation of each and every one of them!
#4 This provides a wonderful opportunity to do major "purging" of old stuff that I no longer need, re-organization of *everything* I own, and even get some new colors of paint on the walls! All of which are things I have been wanting to do, but "haven't had time for"! Time is a funny thing.
#5 Insurance should cover all damage and clean up costs.

To those of you who may be purchasing items on eBay during this time - I have all inventory jewelry safe and handy and should still be able to mail everything out on schedule. My internet connection is limited at times however, so there may be delays in replying to your emails for a while. Thanks for your understanding!

I am hoping to be back in my place as soon as possible, but because of all of the work ahead (sorting, going through everything for insurance, replacing items, etc.) I will be taking some time off of custom orders and probably will not have a Bird of the Month collection on eBay next month. We'll just see how things go!

It has been a while since I've had cockatiels on eBay, so I picked the Lutino Cockatiel for this month's featured bird. This particular bird will always be special to me, since a lutino cockatiel was my very first bird as a child!

The cockatiels on auction for the next six days include the following: bracelet charm, choker necklace, pendant on black cord, pendant with pink heart on pink cords, magnet, pin, glass beaded bracelet, and a glass beaded necklace/earring set!

 

To take a break from orders once in a while, I love creating designs with whimsical birds, and I call them my "Flights of Fancy" pieces. I recently found these fun, funky, bumpy lamp work beads in beautiful blue and light purple, so I just HAD to make up some birds to match them! The clay was impressed with stamps and designs, then highlighted with silver metallic powers for a nice shimmer. Silver wire and beads accent each bird, and each bird is unique even though they are all created in the same color scheme.

The five "Flights of Fancy" necklace & earring sets on auction for the next six days include the following species loosely represented: a Macaw, two Budgies, an Umbrella Cockatoo, and an Eclectus shaped bird. I had an informal "poll" on my Facebook page recently to see what birds everyone would like to see me make, and when the Spix's Macaw came up several times, I was inspired to give them a try! I had actually already picked the Moluccan Cockatoo as my Bird of the Month, but it's been so long since I have created a "new" bird that I've never sculpted before, so decided to have TWO different species for this month!

Did you know that the Spix's Macaw is one of the world's rarest parrots? They are extinct in the wild, and only around 100 or so are in captivity. Extensive efforts are being made to increase the population, and hopefully eventually bring them back to their native home in Brazil.

Well, it's springtime at last here in the midwest! I wanted to do something bright and cheery, so have chosen a lovely yellow bird for this month's Bird of the Month, the Lutino Indian Ringneck Parakeet!

The Bird of the Month is the beautiful Blue Throated Macaw!

I haven't had any macaws on sale for a while, so I've listed a charm, choker necklace, glass beaded bracelet and a glass beaded necklace/earring set for auction on eBay and end on Friday!

 

I have also created three unique pendant necklaces featuring some "abstract parrots", made using many bits of "scrap clay", all rolled together to form some unusual and eye catching designs!

I typically wait until I have quite a clump of many bits of leftover clay from custom orders, and then squeeze it all together in different ways. It's always a fun surprise to see how each one turns out, and certainly makes each piece one-of-a-kind!

The birds could represent a variety of parrot species based on the body shapes, it's just up to your imagination! These pendants are on sale on eBay until Friday.

In addition, there there is a new assortment of bird poop jewelry available! I find that whenever I need a break from sculpting custom orders, making some "poop jewelry" is a fun change. ;) Apparently, I'm not the only one around with a slightly bizarre sense of humor, since I can't seem to keep these crazy creations in stock! You've asked for more, so here they are! This collection of pins, pendant, charm, choker and magnet are now on sale until Friday on my eBay Auctions. As I did last month, I'm using eBay Giving Works to donate at least 10% of the proceeds of all of this week's auctions to The Oasis Sanctuary! It's a perfect time to think about holiday gifts, and this is a great way to give back to bird rescue at the same time!
